Headaches – More Than Just a Pain in the Head

ree

Headaches are frustrating. Whether they come on slowly or hit like a wave, they can really throw off your day. There are many different types—tension, migraine, sinus-related, and cervicogenic (originating from the neck)—and figuring out what’s causing them is key to finding relief.

Tension headaches, one of the most common types, are often linked to stress, screen time, jaw clenching, and poor posture. Many people also don’t realise that tightness in the neck and upper back can refer pain into the head, leading to recurring headaches.

Simple strategies like staying hydrated, managing screen time, reducing stress, and moving your body more regularly can help prevent them. And according to research, manual therapies such as spinal manipulation may provide relief, particularly for tension-type and cervicogenic headaches (Bryans et al., Spine Journal, 2011).

So, if headaches are becoming a regular part of your week, it may be worth looking at supporting your neck, posture, and nervous system.
