Posture – It’s More Than Just Sitting Up Straight

We hear it all the time—"sit up straight!" But posture is about more than just how we sit. It’s how we hold our bodies while we move, stand, sleep, and even breathe.

Poor posture can contribute to a wide range of issues: back pain, headaches, shoulder tension, fatigue, and more. And in today’s world of phones, laptops, and long commutes, it’s no surprise that posture problems are becoming more common—even in kids.

The good news? Posture can change. Small habits like strengthening core muscles, taking regular movement breaks, and adjusting your workstation can make a big impact. And studies show that postural correction programs, including spinal adjustments and movement education, can improve posture-related discomfort (Khosravi et al., J Phys Ther Sci, 2017).

Awareness is the first step. If you’re noticing slouching, stiffness, or soreness, it might be time to check in on how your body is holding itself throughout the day.
