Pregnancy is an amazing time, but it’s also a time of big physical changes. As your body adjusts to support your growing baby, you might notice new aches and pains—particularly in the lower back, hips, and pelvis.
Changes in hormones can affect your ligaments and joints, while your posture shifts as your baby grows. Add to that changes in sleep, movement, and stress levels, and it’s no wonder many women experience discomfort throughout pregnancy.
Gentle stretching, staying active, pelvic floor exercises, and heat therapy can all be helpful. There's also growing evidence that manual therapies, including chiropractic care, can reduce low back and pelvic pain during pregnancy and improve function (Vermani et al., J Obstet Gynaecol Can, 2010).
Every pregnancy is different, so it’s important to find what works best for your body. If pain is interfering with your daily life, reach out to a healthcare provider who can guide you through safe, effective support options.
